Tony Rogers, managing director at Tony Rogers Conference and Event Services, says live events are holding their own: “There are real benefits in meeting face-to-face. Technology, can and does, play an important role in replacing short, routine meetings with virtual options. The benefits of technology in extending the global reach of conferences are well known. Hybrid meetings may well become the norm in the years ahead. (But) it will be a sad day for humanity if we should ever lose the need to meet face-to-face.”

Creative engagement

According to Guy Vellacott, manager, corporate events at XL Video customers are becoming more creative with their events. There is a strong move away from traditional conferences, where a keynote speaker gives a talk supported by an ever larger screen behind them. “We have seen a real push to genuine audience engagement; live interaction with personal media devices, realtime programming and tactile experiences showcased on an ever changing number of display devices including LED screens, projection mapping, Oculus Rift and smart devices,” he says.
